La <strong>Super Proton Synchrotron (SPS<\/strong> &#8211; cea de-a doua mare ma\u015fin\u0103rie \u00een cadrul acceleratorului CERN), fizicienii au m\u0103surat \u0219i cuantificat \u00een sf\u00e2r\u0219it o structur\u0103 invizibil\u0103 care poate devia cursul particulelor din interiorul acesteia \u0219i poate crea probleme pentru cercetarea particulelor.<\/p>\n<p>Deoarece sunt necesare patru st\u0103ri pentru a reprezenta structura, cercet\u0103torii consider\u0103 c\u0103 aceasta este cu patru dimensiuni. Aceast\u0103 structur\u0103 este rezultatul unui fenomen cunoscut sub numele de rezonan\u021b\u0103, iar capacitatea de a-l cuantifica \u0219i m\u0103sura ne aduce cu un pas mai aproape de rezolvarea unei probleme universale pentru acceleratorii de particule magnetice.<\/p>\n<p>Giuliano Franchetti, fizician la GSI Germania, a spus \u00eentr-o declara\u021bie: <em>&#8222;Cu aceste rezonan\u021be, ceea ce se \u00eent\u00e2mpl\u0103 este c\u0103 particulele nu urmeaz\u0103 exact traiectoria pe care o dorim \u0219i se pierd. Acest lucru cauzeaz\u0103 degradarea fasciculului \u0219i \u00eengreuneaz\u0103 atingerea parametrilor necesari&#8221;.<\/em> Rezonan\u021ba apare atunci c\u00e2nd dou\u0103 sisteme interac\u021bioneaz\u0103 \u0219i se sincronizeaz\u0103. Rezonan\u021be pot ap\u0103rea \u00een accelerator din cauza imperfec\u021biunilor magne\u021bilor, cre\u00e2nd o structur\u0103 magnetic\u0103 care interac\u021bioneaz\u0103 cu particulele \u00een moduri problematice. Cu c\u00e2t un sistem dinamic are mai multe grade de libertate, cu at\u00e2t este mai complex s\u0103-l descriem matematic. Particulele care se deplaseaz\u0103 printr-un accelerator de particule sunt de obicei descrise folosind doar dou\u0103 grade de libertate, reflect\u00e2nd cele dou\u0103 coordonate necesare pentru a defini un punct pe o gril\u0103 plan\u0103.<\/p>\n<p>Folosind monitoare de pozi\u021bie a fasciculului de-a lungul lui SPS, cercet\u0103torii au m\u0103surat pozi\u021bia particulelor a aproximativ 3.000 de fascicule.
