Noua reprezentare a rezultat din teoria corzilor \u0219i din \u00eencerc\u0103rile a doi fizicieni de a descrie mai bine ciocnirile de particule.<\/p>\n<p>Cei doi autori &#8211; Aninda Sinha \u015fi Arnab Priya Saha &#8211; de la Institutul Indian de \u0218tiin\u021b\u0103 (IISc), spun c\u0103 au ajuns la o nou\u0103 reprezentare a pi-ului (\u03c0) \u00een mod accidental: <em>&#8222;Studiam fizica energiilor \u00eenalte \u00een teoria cuantic\u0103 \u0219i \u00eencercam s\u0103 dezvolt\u0103m un model cu parametri mai pu\u021bini \u0219i mai precisi pentru a \u00een\u021belege cum interac\u021bioneaz\u0103 particulele. Am fost \u00eenc\u00e2nta\u021bi c\u00e2nd am g\u0103sit un nou mod de a privi pi\u201d<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Fiind o constant\u0103 matematic\u0103, valoarea lui pi nu s-a schimbat niciodat\u0103; de-a lungul timpului, pur \u0219i simplu s-au ob\u021binut red\u0103ri mai exacte ale valorii sale precise, ating\u00e2ndu-se chiar 105 trilioane de cifre al celebrului 3,14.<\/p>\n<p>Aceast\u0103 nou\u0103 lucrare a lui Saha \u0219i Sinha postuleaz\u0103 o nou\u0103 reprezentare \u00een serie a lui pi, despre care ei spun c\u0103 ofer\u0103 o modalitate mai u\u0219oar\u0103 de a extrage pi din calculele folosite pentru a descifra \u00eempr\u0103\u0219tierea cuantic\u0103 a particulelor de \u00eenalt\u0103 energie aruncate \u00een acceleratoarele de particule.<\/p>\n<p>Dar unii matematicieni nu sunt de acord. \u00cen matematic\u0103, o serie prezint\u0103 componentele unui parametru precum pi, astfel \u00eenc\u00e2t matematicienii s\u0103 poat\u0103 ajunge rapid la valoarea lui pi, din p\u0103r\u021bile sale componente. Este ca \u0219i cum ai urma o re\u021bet\u0103, ad\u0103ug\u00e2nd fiecare ingredient \u00een cantitatea \u0219i ordinea corect\u0103, pentru a produce un fel de m\u00e2ncare gustos. Cu excep\u021bia cazului \u00een care nu ai re\u021beta, \u015fi atunci nu \u0219tii ce ingrediente compun un fel de m\u00e2ncare, sau c\u00e2t s\u0103 adaugi \u0219i c\u00e2nd.<\/p>\n<p>G\u0103sirea num\u0103rului \u0219i combina\u021biei corecte de componente pentru a reprezenta pi i-a uimit pe cercet\u0103tori \u00eenc\u0103 de la \u00eenceputul anilor 1970, c\u00e2nd au \u00eencercat pentru prima dat\u0103 s\u0103 reprezinte pi \u00een acest fel, dar l-au abandonat rapid deoarece era prea complicat.<\/p>\n<p>Fizicienii indieni au c\u0103utat \u00eens\u0103 altceva: modalit\u0103\u021bi de a reprezenta matematic interac\u021biunile particulelor subatomice folosind c\u00e2t mai pu\u021bini \u0219i c\u00e2t mai simpli factori posibili. Ei au \u00eencercat s\u0103 descrie aceste interac\u021biuni &#8211; care degaj\u0103 tot felul de particule ciudate \u0219i greu de v\u0103zut &#8211; pe baza diferitelor combina\u021bii ale masei particulelor, vibra\u021bii \u0219i spectrul larg al mi\u0219c\u0103rilor lor neregulate, printre altele.<\/p>\n<p>Ceea ce a ajutat la deblocarea problemei a fost un instrument numit diagrama Feynman, care reprezint\u0103 expresiile matematice ce descriu energia schimbat\u0103 \u00eentre dou\u0103 particule care interac\u021bioneaz\u0103 \u0219i se \u00eempr\u0103\u0219tie.
