E vorba de ideea c\u0103 noi atingem limita absolut\u0103 a ceea ce putem \u00een\u0163elege prin \u015ftiin\u0163\u0103 lumea din jurul nostru. <em>&#8222;Urm\u0103torii c\u00e2\u021biva ani poate c\u0103 ne vor spune dac\u0103 noi vom fi capabili s\u0103 ne cre\u015ftem capacitatea de \u00een\u0163elegere asupra naturii sau dac\u0103 poate, pentru prima dat\u0103 \u00een istoria \u0219tiin\u021bei, ne-am putea confrunta cu \u00eentreb\u0103ri la care nu putem r\u0103spunde&#8221;<\/em>, a declarat Harry Cliff, specialist \u00een fizica particulelor la Organiza\u021bia European\u0103 pentru Cercetare Nuclear\u0103 (CERN), \u00een timpul unei conferin\u0163e ce a avut loc recent \u00een Geneva, Elve\u021bia.<\/p>\n<p>La fel de \u00eenfrico\u0219\u0103tor este motivul pentru care aceast\u0103 limit\u0103 a \u00een\u0163elegerii se apropie, mai spune Cliff: <em>&#8222;Pentru c\u0103 legile fizicii ar interzice&#8221;<\/em>. La baza argumentului lui Cliff sunt ceea ce el nume\u0219te &#8222;cele mai periculoase dou\u0103 numere din Univers&#8221;. Aceste numere sunt responsabile pentru materia, structura \u0219i via\u021ba la care suntem martori peste tot \u00een Cosmos. Iar dac\u0103 aceste dou\u0103 numere ar fi fost u\u0219or diferite, spune Cliff, Universul ar fi fost un spa\u021biu gol, lipsit de via\u021b\u0103.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Primul num\u0103r periculos:<\/strong> <strong>puterea c\u00e2mpului Higgs<\/strong>. Primul num\u0103r periculos din lista lui Cliff este o valoare care reprezint\u0103 puterea a ceea ce fizicienii numesc &#8222;c\u00e2mpul Higgs&#8221;, un c\u00e2mp de energie invizibil\u0103, \u00eent\u00e2lnit \u00een Cosmos, \u015fi care nu se comport\u0103 \u00een \u00eentregime ca celelalte c\u00e2mpuri magnetice. \u00centruc\u00e2t particulele &#8222;\u00eenoat\u0103&#8221; prin c\u00e2mpul Higgs, ele c\u00e2\u015ftig\u0103 mas\u0103, pentru a deveni \u00een cele din urm\u0103 de protoni, neutroni \u0219i electroni, cuprinz\u00e2nd to\u0163i atomii din care este alc\u0103tuit\u0103 toat\u0103 materia. Cliff admite: <em>&#8222;\u00cenc\u0103 nu \u0219tim ce este energia \u00eentunecat\u0103; cea mai bun\u0103 idee e aceea c\u0103 ea este energia spa\u021biului gol \u00een sine, energia vidului&#8221;<\/em>.
