Acest cutremur devastator a cauzat un puternic tsunami care a m\u0103turat pur \u015fi simplu multe regiuni din Asia de Sud-Est, murind astfel peste 220.000 de oameni. Acesta a fost cel mai devastator tsunami\u00a0 produs, dup\u0103 cel rezultat \u00een urma exploziei vulcanului Krakatao \u00een 1883. Cutremurul s-a produs pe 26 decembrie 2004, ora 00:58 (Ora Universal\u0103).<\/p>\n<p>Interesant e faptul c\u0103 44 de ore mai t\u00e2rziu (27 decembrie 2004, ora 21:36, Ora Universal\u0103), telescoapele din jurul P\u0103m\u00e2ntului au detectat cele mai str\u0103lucitoare explozii de unde gamma ale unei supernove, \u00eenregistrate vreodat\u0103 pe Terra. Aceast\u0103 explozie de raze gamma a fost de 100 de ori mai intens\u0103 dec\u00e2t alte explozii asem\u0103n\u0103toare, av\u00e2nd ca luminozitate puterea unei Luni \u00eentregi. Undele gamma \u015fi-au atins un nivel maxim care a durat 1,5 secunde, apoi au sc\u0103zut pentru o perioad\u0103 de 5 minute, av\u00e2nd 7,57 secunde de pulsa\u0163ii. Dac\u0103 steaua s-ar fi aflat la 10 ani-lumin\u0103 de P\u0103m\u00e2nt, acesta ar fi fost distrus.<em> &#8222;Probabil c\u0103 este cea mai mare explozie observat\u0103 vreodat\u0103 de oameni \u00een galaxia noastr\u0103, din 1604, atunci c\u00e2nd astronomul Kepler a v\u0103zut \u015fi el o supernov\u0103&#8221;,<\/em> a declarat Dr Rob Fender, de la Universitatea Southampton din Marea Britanie. Este greu de trecut cu vederea faptul c\u0103 aceste evenimente majore au fost doar ni\u015fte coinciden\u0163e. Este foarte probabil ca cele dou\u0103 evenimente importante, ce au avut loc la o distan\u0163\u0103 at\u00e2t de mic\u0103, s\u0103 fie legate \u00eentre ele.<\/p>\n<p>O parte din astronomi \u015fi-au pus \u015fi ei problema unei conexiuni, dar deocamdat\u0103 nu este cunoscut niciun mecanism de ac\u0163iune. De\u015fi pe 27 decembrie 2004, razele gamma au afectat ionizarea atmosferei P\u0103m\u00e2ntului, totu\u015fi acest lucru n-ar trebui s\u0103 cauzeze cutremure.
